Annual Photo Award and Exhibition

Kolga Tbilisi Photo

After 13 years of successful experience in annual photo contest, and after transforming “Kolga Award” into Kolga Tbilisi Photo from 2012, it has become the biggest and quite renowned international photo festival in Georgia. Founded by Beso Khaindrava, this festival selects the winners from from the contest. In 2016, there was a record number of photos – more than 10.000. Guests came from 40 different countries. The festival lasted from 12th to 18th of May and hosted about 15 international and local, group and individual exhibitions, workshops and portfolio reviews, featuring both historically significant images and contemporary photographic works.

Nomination categories will include: Documentary Series, Reportage, Conceptual Photo Project, One Shot and Mobile Photo with two sub-nominations: one shot and photo series. Furthermore a new award was added to the photo contest this year: Kolga Newcomer Photo Award, that will be given to a young photographer under the age of 25. The goal is to promote the development of young photographers. The list of jury is as follows: Dina Oganova, Christopher Raushenberg, Tina Schelhorn, Tuula Alajoki.

This year ‘Kolga Tbilisi Photo’ took a new location, the exhibition was hosted in the pavilion of Lekhaindrao Production, in Former Silk Factory, N53 Str. Kostava. Georgian band “Loudspeakers” was performing, so besides amateur photographers, music lovers enjoyed the event as well.
